Teacher Notes

Before you begin this webquest, read Piggins, by Jane Yolen to your class. Feel free to substitute your favorite mystery if you prefer.   If you feel really energetic, have a frog in your classroom, name him Kermit,  and ask a stranger to come in during a class and take the frog.  This could add some real life drama to the activity.  Students will initially need assistance navigating the webquest, but hopefully with practice they will be able to work in pairs without much adult assistance.  You will need to show students how to proceed through the webquest and you will also need to demonstrate how to use the activities outlined on the resource page.  Some of the activities require that students print out pages to color, etc., so they will need access to a printer.  Some activities walk students throught the process of drawing, so they will need space to draw next to the computer.  After they visit all of the web sites, the students should work in pairs to create their "Wanted" poster and share it with the class.
