Technology Integration Ideas for Guidance Counselors

There are many ways guidance counselors integrate technology into their work as student advocates.

1. Develop PowerPoint Presentations that will be used in information sessions for students and parents.

2. Develop a web site that will include links to other web sites.

3. Create a newsletter for students and parents that contains guidance information from college selections to anger control.

4. Plan for students to use the Internet for career exploration, college search, in-depth college information, scholarship search and general information about getting into colleges.

5. Communicate via email and other telecommunications activities to announce special guidance meetings or guidance group sessions.

6. Use the digital camera to take student pictures for bulletin boards spotlighting special students.

7. Use Inspiration or another graphic organizer to help students with decision making or career ideas.

8. Students can create PowerPoint presentation about any topic in guidance classes.

9. Students can use Excel to create a budget based on specific career salaries.

10. Use online interest inventories to help students with career decisions.
