A Day No Pigs Will Die by Robert Newton Peck

Before we begin reading the novel, there are 4 "dirt" roads (research topics) we need to travel down. Each group will have 4 tasks to complete:
1. Research the importance of who Robert Newton Peck was and what influenced his life. Write a letter to your favorite teacher telling him or her what influence they had on your life.
2. Research the origin of the Shaker Religion, the beliefs and teachings of the Shakers, and the inventions they gave us. Make a tri-fold brochure about the Shakers using Microsoft Publisher.
3. Research Vermont history to include Abner Doubleday (baseball), Ethan Allen, Green Mountain Boys, flag of Vermont, and town of Rutland. Make a baseball diamond gameboard.
4. Research different breeds of
swine and what it takes to show pigs? Create a flyer about your favorite
"show pig."
