Although this unit is designed for 7th
graders as enrichment for a novel study of The Call of the Wild,
it may be adapted for any middle school grade level. With my regular
language arts 7th graders, I wanted the students to find out more about
the setting of the novel. Since my students live in the South, the
frozen Alaskan world is foreign to most of them. If this WebQuest were
to be used for newspaper writing as opposed to gaining knowledge of the setting,
I would suggest including more scaffolding for newspaper design and writing.
