selected, you will need to take notes. You are required
to use at least four different sources. You may use books,
magazine or newspaper articles, encyclopedias, CD-ROMs,
and the Internet.
Write each source on a separate 4x6 note card in correct
bibliographical form. These are your source cards.
Write notes on 4x6 note cards. Each note card must be written
and labeled as follows:
1. Label each card by writing at the top a key word or phrase
that tells what the card is about. (topic) You can even
do different color cards for each topic.
2. Put the source card number at the top of each card.
3. Page number(s)used from source at bottom of card.
4.Take notes from the source that is easy to understand
so that writing your outline and paper will not be difficult.
Use abbreviations and short phrases. You don't need to
write complete sentences. Use your own words, but if you
decide to used someone's exact words, put quotation marks
around the words (see quotation handout)
5. You are to take notes on one topic per note card and
do not write on the back of note cards. Write at least
