Task

Introduction

The year is 1789. George Washington, the newly elected president of the United States, has decided to preserve the heritage of this new country. Since winning its independence from Britain in 1776, Washington has wanted to insure the history of this native land was not overlooked nor forgotten. Also, he believes that by studying Native Americans, we will have a better understanding of this land we call 'The United States of America.' Therefore, he wants to erect a museum to showcase the Native Americans who inhabited this land long before it was discovered by the Europeans. To accomplish this, he has formed a task force to study tribes in the far reaches of America. Each team of four is comprised of a curator, an anthropologist, a geographer, and a historian.

Your mission is to discover how the environmental living conditions, their habitat, influenced the lifestyles of Native Americans. You will be traveling to one of the ten geographic locations in North America that the Native American tribes inhabited. Not only will the information you gather be placed in the museum, but George Washington wants each team to select four artifacts that best represent your tribe to bury in a time capsule for future generations to discover.

Do your best. It is up to you to inform future Americans about the Native American heritage of our country.
