1. Select classmates to be members of a four person team. As
a team, you are to decide which role each of you will assume in
the exploration of your Native American tribe. Each of these roles
focuses on different areas of their lifestyle. Read your role
and research the information that is your responsibility.
2. Now look at the map and decide which
region you would like to explore. Choose a tribe from that region
to research. Submit the name of your tribe to your teacher.
3. Now you are ready to learn as much as you can about the tribe.
You are to determine how the geographic area in which they live
determines their lifestyle. Here are some questions to consider
while researching.
What natural resources are available
in the area?
What resources are used to create the materials they used
in their everyday life?
4. Record your research findings on 4x6 index cards. Cite your
sources, using MLA
format, on the source cards, and your information on the note
cards as shown in the classroom site
of this WebQuest .
5. Use the information you have recorded to determine the relationship
between the tribe's locality and their life style. Share your
information with all team members to understand the big picture
of your tribe.
6. Each member of the team must write a five paragraph research
composition supporting the theme, 'The geographical location
of the ________(Native American tribe) determined their way of
life.' This must be word processed and contain a Work
Cited page.
7. Determine as a group which artifacts you would like to create
to best represent your tribe. These must be a 3D representation
or a hand-drawn picture. You will use these in your oral presentation
to the class.
8. Additional audio and/or visual materials will add to your
oral presentation. These can include, but not limited to, PowerPoint,
a brochure, a recording, or a handout.
