Research the Native American tribe that your group has chosen. Locate the tribe on the map of North America. Independently research your character's assignment to contribute to the group's knowledge using the provided web sites and library resources. Use the classroom website to learn how to set up your source and note cards. There is information provided on the MLA format for books, encyclopedias, newspaper and magazine articles, CD-ROMs, and the Internet. Notes are to be written in complete sentences and cited using this MLA format. Write a five paragraph research composition supporting the thesis statement, "The geographical location of the ___________(Native American tribe) determined their way of life." As a group, decide which artifacts would best represent your tribe. Create a drawing or 3-D representation of the object to be placed in the time capsule. Be able to justify your selections during the oral presentation. Prepare an oral presentation, with visuals, to present to the class. This must include the four artifacts. You may produce other visuals, such as a PowerPoint presentation, transparencies, etc., to support your presentation.
