Extended Activities
Invite a curator from a local museum to present information to the class onl Native American tribes from your area.

Have students develop a whole new tribe using the same characteristics that they have researched for their tribe. Design a new name, clothing, housing, transportation, art, tools, utensils, etc. using the natural resources available in the designated area.

Students can develop a PowerPoint presentation on all aspects of the Native American tribe that was researched to be placed on the school's web site.

Students could write and perform a skit, including accurate scenery and costumes, representing their tribe.

Research Native American tales. Create a booklet of stories that were shared among the people of the tribe. After recording the tale, write a brief description of how their habitat (natural resources) are reflected in their tales. Now compose an original poem, short story, or folktale reflecting nature to add to the booklet.
