Notes: *Parts of this WebQuest deal with sensitive subjects (mass murder, sexual harassment, etc.) that are suitable for only mature students. Discuss these issues with your students ahead of time. To avoid dealing with controversial material, you might omit certain personalities from the project. *For this WebQuest, you will be playing the role of an ISIS contact. Familiarize yourself with the WebQuest and adjust your role as you feel necessary. *This WebQuest allows you a great deal of flexibility to adjust the tasks to best suit your students' abilities and grade level. For example, you might: *demand that students compile a Works Cited page at the end of their reports. *alter the format of the report to allow for in-text MLA documentation. *limit student research to only certain web sites. *demand that students consult sources other than from the Internet to complete the project. *downplay the role-playing aspect of the project if your students find it too juvenile. *This WebQuest allows you to adjust the tasks to best accomodate time contstraints or avoid student fatigue. This is best done by limiting the number of personalities students must research and/or limiting the number of reports they must write. *You might find it beneficial to allow students to work in groups. Under this technique, tasks might be divided in a number of different ways. *You might adjust the evaluation rubric to allow for easier grading. *This WebQuest is best suited for allowing students to independently learn the fundamentals of using the Internet for research. |
