Your teacher will select
your investigative team so you can explore the three tall tale characters
that were nominated at the "secret" meeting.

Second
|
You will research
the three characters by reading their tall tale and linking on to web
sites. After
reading the text you will need to click on the book covers above to find
your first links. Then go to the resource page for more information.

Third
|
As you work you will
complete a graphic organizer for all three characters highlighting their
unique traits. This web should include the characters' backgrounds, strengths,
weaknesses, bravery, kindness, and special events. Each part of your
web should cite at least three examples from your investigation.

Fourth
|
You will build a consensus
by selecting one tall tale character to support during the tournament.

Next
|
Your group will go through
the writing process using your graphic organizer to create a persuasive
piece defending your character. You must defend your
character's right to earn the Tall Tale Tribute supported with evidence.

Then
|
Your team will create
a final visual product to present to the The Association
of Literary Exaggerations Tribute.
|
Finally
|
The presentation will
be videotaped. Some creative ideas include conducting a pretend interview,
writing a persuasive speech from the character's point of view with
a campaign poster, or creating a play to showcase the character. Don't forget
about costumes and props.
