Activity 6 Title of Lesson: Are You Your Brother's Keeper? -- Virtual Museum
Overview: This activity explores violence in schools. Students will review the PowerPoint presentation. They will write a reaction statement about each slide and or link that they are to visit. At the conclusion of the activity, students will use problem solving strategies to role play sample situations that could escalate into violence. Click here to view the Virtual Museum. Objectives:
Students will view the presentation and then write reflective statements based on their observation of pictures, written critiques, and multimedia shows. In groups, students will examine their beliefs about student responsibility and violence in school. Students will participate in role playing activities that emphasize conflict resolution.
Time Estimate: Two 90 minute periods
Materials: Teacher's workstation connected to a projector, student journals, pens or pencils, sample situations
Procedure:
Teacher will review the concepts of violence and violence prevention. Teacher will preview presentation and review steps to hyperlink to sites on the Internet. Students will look at the PowerPoint presentation, Are you your brother's keeper? Students will complete activities on slides 1-22. Students will complete slides 223-24 independently and with partners. They will then share their ideas with the class.

How Bloom's thinking skills and Gardner's multiple Students will explore the concept of school violence through an interactive virtual tour. They will locate, list, analyze, compose, draw, and present information found through the activities. They will explore visual information, auditory information, video information, and text information. Students will work independently to solve problems and to reflect on their own opinions. Students will also work in groups and pairs to solve problems. They will present their findings to the class.
