World War II was a devastating time for citizens of the world.

You are going to be researching the horrible effects of World War II  on citizens of the world.  By the end of this unit, you will be more knowledgeable about WWII.  This unit will incorporate English, technology, and history.  Click on the links to the left to navigate this site.

World War II Thematic Unit

Theme: World War II was a devastating time for
citizens of the world.


Overview:  World War II affected many different
countries and people of all nationalities.  Jewish
citizens, in particular, were persecuted. 

Objectives: Throughout this unit, students will become familiar with some of the effects of World War II.

Time Estimate: The unit will take approximately 4 weeks to complete.

Materials: Materials for this unit include books for the literature circles, computers, an LCD projector, and a
projection screen

Procedure:

  1. Begin the unit by discussing World War II with the students.  I will find out what the students already know or think they know about the war.  I will talk about any preconceived notions that the students might have about WWII.  We will then view the photo essay on the war that is linked above.
  2. Go to the literature connection and complete all   assigned activities.
  3. Go to the technology connection and complete all assigned activities.
  4. Go to the social studies connection and complete all assigned activities..

Assessment: To assess the students mastery of the  standards, each project or activity will be graded        according to the provided rubrics.  In addition, each  student will turn in a cumulative portfolio at the end of the unit.
