Integrating Technology into the Curriculum

The integration of technology into all curricular areas supports Charleston County School District’s three main initiatives set forth in The Charleston Plan for Excellence:Coherent Curriculum, MAP, and Differentiated Instruction. There are over 400 South Carolina/Coherent Curriculum standards associated with technology use in the K-12 curriculum.

The Department of Educational Technology's mission is to train teachers and administrators how to use technology in the classroom. The department offers recertification courses, graduate courses, and workshops to meet that goal. In addition, the department's technology specialists work with individual teachers within the classroom to develop technology projects that enhance the teaching of SC standards.

Students are motivated and interested in technology, so it is imperative that educators tap into that student interest in order to teach the standards to increase student achievement.
