Charleston County School District's Acceptable Use Policy

The CCSD Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) states that technology must be used securely in a lawful and ethical manner for CCSD educational or business purposes. Each CCSD employee and student must sign the AUP yearly. These student and employee AUP's may be found online:

  • The policy applies to all CCSD laptops for school and home use.
  • The policy applies to all email correspondence.
  • The policy applies to software use.
  • The policy addresses the privilege of using the Internet responsibly.
  • The policy addresses mass emails, viruses, or downloads from the Internet.
  • The policy addresses the fact that each student and employee must use their unique login to access a CCSD computer.

Technology Standards

The International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) standards address the social ethical, legal, and human issues associated with technology use in the classroom. South Carolina has adopted the ISTE as the state technology standards.

South Carolina Technology Standards for Teachers:

VI. Teachers understand the social, ethical, legal, and human issues surrounding the use of technology in PK-12 schools and apply that understanding in practice.

South Carolina Technology standards for Students:

  • Students understand the ethical, cultural, and societal issues related to technology
