CCSD Technology Proviso Requirements

Administrators

  1. Ensure Certified Staff Members Complete the Self-Assessment by April 4, 2008
    • Provide a roster of all certified teachers with signatures indicating completion of self-assessment to the Department of Educational Technology by April 14, 2008
  2. Observe and Document Technology Integration Lesson * for Each Teacher
    • Formal or informal observations are acceptable
    • Lesson must involve students using technology
    • Observations must be completed by May 30, 2008

* Teachers may submit a portfolio with samples of student technology projects in lieu of an observation with principal approval


Certified Staff Requirements

All employees with a valid South Carolina teaching certificate (teachers, guidance counselors, media specialists, teacher coaches, itinerants) will complete the following requirements:

  1. Self-Assessment
    • Complete the online self-assessment yearly
      • Self-assessment will be open February 25-April 4, 2008
    • Teachers will report technology proficiency skills level and completion of items 2-4 below
      • Demonstrate technology proficiency (progress through Proficient Level Three) by successfully completing the first three technology skills levels:
        • Entry Level One
        • Progressive Level Two
        • Proficient Level Three
        • Exemplary Level Four
  2. Technology Renewal or Graduate Course
    • One 45-hour course or three 15-hour courses
      • One course(s) completed during certification validity period
  3. Principal Observation of a Technology Integrated Lesson
    • One yearly observation
      • Lesson involves students using technology in the classroom or computer lab
  4. Technology Professional Development
    • 2 hours of technology professional development completed yearly
